We walked there from Rathaus Platz, and looked nice from the outside, so we gave it a try. Inside small, but veyr nice (with table cloth, big candles and real roses on the table), and so is the owner. Interesting mix of couples out for a romantic dinner, tourists from nearby hotels and families which probably reflects the varied menue of sophisticated Italian dishes on the one hand and afforable pizza and pasta on the other. Smoking area and non-smoking area well separated by a proper glass door (which unfortunatunately is not standard in Vienna).Food was great and excellent value. I had a decent piece of filetto di manzo con salsa di pepe (perfect medium, sauce not too heavy, plus broccoli and mixed greans salad, ), my wife a risotto frutti di mare (not overcooked, generous and tasty seafood), and for our 2-year old daughter we ordered a custom-made small pizza with all her favorites (broccoli, ham, zucchini) - I had promised her a pizza earlier the day and she remembered. Finished off with a layered chocolate mousse of dark and white chocolate and lots of exotic fruits which made all of us really happy. Including beer, two nice glasses of decent Italian red wine, espresso, tips and taxes $90 Canadian ($80 US), by Toronto downtown standards almost a steal. Btw, in Germany and Austria you would give around 5% tip in a restaurant (if you were satisfied), up to 10% if you were extremely happy, less than 5% to nothing if you were moderately to completely dissatisfied. Higher percentages if the absolute amount if small (e.g., 2 Euros, you would give 2.50). With more than 10% in tips you signal that you are either North American and not familiar with the local tipping standards or have too much money.Dont order any digestif, you will get a grappa or amaretto on the house.Restaurant is in a historical building, the washrooms are a bit dated and simple, but clean. Overall, an excellent choice.
