Bayleaf Indian Restaurant

Wir waren zu viert im Bayleaf und haben sehr gut gegessen! Die Qualität war vorzüglich, preislich ist das Restaurant an der oberen Grenze, die Portionen sind aber auch gut bemessen. Zu viert kann man nur 3 Menus bestellen und ist damit gut bedient. Sehr positiv ist auch, dass es Mövenpick-Glacé zum Dessert gibt - bei europäischen Kunden sicher sehr beliebt. Bei schönem Wetter kann man draussen sitzen, zwar an einer ziemlich befahrenden Strasse, aber trotzdem in Ordnung. Das Restaurant ist gut mit dem Tram Nr. 1 oder 8 ab Bahnhof zu erreichen, in wenigen Minuten.

It doesn't seem to matter which menu item you choose, everything was outrageously tasty, cooked to perfection and meeting very high standards indeed. This recent addition to the scene catapulted itself into a/the leading position in Basel (if not the entire region) for the Indian cuisines. Shame though that our server almost managed to ruin the experience: ordered items were forgotten (repeatedly), liquids were spilt (repeatedly) and not cleaned up, hot wax from warmer candles was (repeatedly) spilt - and the person in question could generally not be bothered in the least. We were not even finished eating when he asked if we wanted "the check" (without bringing us the mineral water we had asked for twice). This is something I really loathe - brilliant cuisine, hopeless service. Makes me feel angry for all the great staff in the kitchen.

Nach einer herben indischen Enttäuschung (siehe meine Bewertungen) habe ich mich in der gleichen Gegend in ein kürzlich eröffnetes, neues indisches Restaurant gewagt.Ich wurde nicht nur nicht wieder enttäuscht, der Lunch (indischer gemischter Salat und ein Lamb Rogan Josh with Dal) war absolut genial und mit 19 Franken trotzdem sehr preiswert. Zudem wurde ich auch äusserst zuvorkommend und speditiv bedient. Werde gerne bald auch abends a la carte essen gehen und kann das Lokal nur wärmstens empfehlen. Habe meinen Lunch im Strassenrestaurant genossen. Die Räumlichkeiten machen jedoch auch einen stilvoll gepflegten Eindruck.

Bay Leaf is great addition to chain of restaurants in Basel and easily the best Indian restaurant in and around the city.Having lived in Basel for years I can't think of going to another place when thinking of Indian food.They are very creately unique with their menu also the staff members are very friendly. They never reject any customizations you request however busy they are. I am also ordering very frequently and the response time and quality is always great and never compromised. Even sometimes they send you extra goodies at the same cost. Which is welcome :)Wish them Best of luck and keep up the good work.Cheers,Amresh

Our daughter chose Bayleaf restaurant for our family meal to celebrate her 21st birthday. We had a really delicious Indian meal - easily the best we've enjoyed in Basel, and on a par with the best we've had in London (one of our guilty pleasures when we're there). It is expensive, however. Many places are 'relatively' expensive in Switzerland, but the Bayleaf was a bit out of the "family meal" price bracket, even here. Next time (and there will be more) it may be just the 2 of us, not 6!!

Had recently been there for the 3rd time for the excellend food. Foodwise we have made again a very nice experience. What disappointed me most was that 1) our order for the Drinks was forgotten, so I had to remind the waiter, bad way to start2) there are only 2 waiters for the whole Restaurant i.E. who have to handle in and outside which is definitely not efficient3) We had to wait for 1,5 hrs until the food arrived - after several friendly reminders then my appetite was gone4) I think that they prefer to handle take away orders with priority whilst letting the clients at the table wait - since they cook every take away order fresh you can imagine how Long we had to waitIt is very frustrating to see one take away bag after another leaving the kitchen and counter whilst a) waiting for the food andb) for excuses for the unappropriate waiting time.so nobody of the personnel really cared about our waiting time. No big signs of apoplogies, until they had been friendly reminded.... - a pity - rgds [email protected] the Problem with the take away delays is well solved I do not think I will go there again. When I had read the previous entries regarding the take away issue and delays, I should have know better.
