Upon entry the immediate thing I noticed was that the restaurant smelled "old". It is decorated with traditional Indian items, overall is quite dark and aged. The tables, bench seat on the end, the orange cushions meant that my partner and I were giving eachother looks, debating if we should leave immediately or not.We decided to stay, and afterwards it got better, but not fantastic. Service was nothing special, the kitchen is in the same area as the eating area except for old wooden panelling separating the two areas so we could hear everything, including the cook/s violently coughing a few times over the evening. They gave us complimentary pappadums at the start which is always a good sign of something better however we were a little disappointed. They came with 4 sauces/items but from the looks of it they were definitely not fresh, although refrigerated, and you could see stains on them from where previous people had used the same dishes etc. Not appealing and in the end we ate them mainly dry.We had the mixed entree, it was good. The main meals were also reasonable, one out of the two was surprisingly bland but overall okay. The garlic naan we ordered was extremely thin and extremely buttery/oily which isn't what we expected from experience. Most of the mains were around CHF30 and didn't come with rice as standard which was listed as CHF6 on the menu which - for a bowl of rice even in Zurich - is extortionate. At the end of the evening after paying we asked the server (owner I would guess) a question and he was quite rude, so all in all... wouldn't recommend, wouldn't go back. There are a lot better Indian restaurants, even in Zurich. Save your money and go to another one.
