Pizzeria Osteria da Giovanni

Found this place on Trip Advisor as it was close to the hotel and we didn't want to walk far after a day of exploring! It definitely did not disappoint. We went here twice during our 5 nights. The first night we had a bottle of Pinot Grigio, bruschetta, a spinach pizza, and ravioli w/ragu. It came to 51 euro and was great! The menu is mostly pizza with a few different homemade pastas and a few different sauces to choose from. I like that you can choose your pasta and sauce, it's not a set offering. The second night we brought a couple we met on a tour, and they enjoyed it as much as we did! Ordered 2 pizzas, ravioli, and a calzone this time around and everyone loved their choices. The restaurant is small, family run, and adorable. They have a little courtyard area in the back that is like being on someone's back deck. Definitely recommend for some good, authentic Italian food that is not touristy and off the beaten path.

We ate here twice on our recent visit to Vienna, following a recommendation from a friend. We booked on line for the first night, and sat out on the terrace. Service was fast and efficient and bruschetta, pizza and tuna salad very good. Generous portions. Only drawback was smokers on the terrace.A couple of evenings later we dropped in on spec. A party of 9 had arrived and we were repeatedly told that we would have to wait as the kitchen was busy. This wasn't a problem, but we did feel less welcome. Food when it arrived was again very good, though tuna salad was heavily doused in olive oil.Worth a visit but book.

Tired of vienese schnitel?:) and hamburgers?:) come here, a realy nice place with a delicious pizza and ok prices. The pizzerias from the center do not compare with this one, i recommend it.

Il posto è molto piccolo, per raggiungere il mini giardino ci hanno fatto passare attraverso un corridoio stretto, buio e sporco... di un condominio fatiscente....e dai tavoli di poteva ammirare li stendino con la biancheria stesa. Pizza gommosa, acqua di rubinetto servita in brocca di vetro, antipasto di verdure sott'olio pessimo, misero, mozzarella di plastica e insufficiente per 5 persone....pane con aglio a volontà!!!

Solitamente non sono avvezzo a mangiare italiano all'estero ma quest'anno visto che mia figlia di 4 anni non gradisce molto mangiare fuori porta ho fatto questa esperienza.Devo dire che ho potuto apprezzare la buona cucina di questo locale. Hanno un menù che comprende antipasto (mozzarella di bufala e pomodoro) primo (ravioli o tagliatelle in varie salse) ed un dolce (profiterol). Personale molto gentile. Merita davvero

We don’t rate all restaurants we visit - only the ones that stand out. We were on the outlook for a good pizzeria while on holiday recently in Vienna. This was our first trip so we weren’t familiar with the restaurants except for reviews that were already available. This place was highly rated. We were also looking for something that was walking distance from our hotel in Mariahilfer Strasse. We found this small, traditional restaurant on a quiet side street. It was well lit and looked very welcoming. We were shown the dining area outside at the back of the restaurant which was lovely. The pizza and pasta we had were amazing, as was the wine, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We didn’t have time to go back again during our trip this time but will add it to our list for next time. Well worth a visit.

Siamo stati qui ben due volte. La cenetta dai sapori originali italiani della cena del 19/7 è stata consumata con una caprese alla bufala, ravioli ai finferli-ragù bolognese e un delizioso tortino al cocco su mousse di pesca con mirtillo. Pizza per la serata del 20/7 caratterizzata da una pasta croccante veramente deliziosa.Gentilissima la cameriera...veloce e premuroso il titolare italiano!Quando ripasseremo per Vienna ci fermeremo ancora sicuramente in questo locale piccolo e rustico per gustare le squisite proposte di Giovanni allietati dalla buona musica dei cantautori italiani contemporanei.Sosta obbligatoria!
