India Gate Restaurant

A good restaurant with a variety of south Indian cuisine too. Liked the food and the taste was indeed authentic.

Wirklich sehr gutes Essen, hatten ein 4 Gänge Menü, das wir mir mit Müh und Not geschafft haben. Dieses Restaurant kann man sehr empfehlen und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder

We just had to pickup some dal from this place. 11.5 Euros for a small plate of dal, with no roti/naan alongwith. The dal was not good too.

I live in Vienna for about 2 years, and always choose Indien Village, or India Gate for their lunch buffet. I kept coming to this place for more than a year, and every time I paid 7,50€, BUT WILL NEVER COME AGAIN, as the owner scammed me!!! When I came, the restaurant was full of indian guests, probably a large group, and a few locals. It was a mess, the buffet area was dirty, tables also, I was barely able to get a seat, the lunch buffet menu was short on selection, I was not offered water, etc. But that's fine, I understand, that they were very busy. After I started to eat, the owner told me, that the price would be 12€!!! I asked him why, as the selection of the buffet is worse, than normally (No soup, Naan instead of Samosa, cheap ice cream for dessert). The answer to my question was, that the reason of this price is the indian group. I felt sorry about them, because not just me, but they were scammed too. Actually this wasn't the first time he was trying to pull out money/tips from me, but this time I asked him, if it is worth for him, that I will never come back because of this bad experience. Long story short: PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE, if me, and this large group was scammed, I'm pretty sure others will be too! GO TO INDIEN VILLAGE ISTEAD, their service is always 5 star, and the food too.

We were a large group of 25 with a pre set menu including Jain food. Food was well made.Service of the restaurant manager was excellent. He was very cordial and willing to cater to different needs. Recommended for those looking for simple Indian food in the city.

We reached the restaurant a little late in the evening after a very long and tiring day. We were famished and were pleasantly surprised by the food at this place. Its much to look at. The ambience is very mediocre but the food and the service was good. Not excellent but good. The chicken masala was good with the chicken well cooked and tasty. The naan was hot and not chewy. The only thing I didn't like was the cutlery used. The plastic tableware is tacky. The service was good and prompt. This place is nothing so great to rave about but if you want a decent place for good Indian food you could pay a visit.

We were recommended this place from friends and tried it out on a Friday evening. We were the only ones in the restaurant which was very surprising, as it was an excellent experience.We both took lassis to drink - freshly made for us in mango and raspberry flavours respectively. After the classic poppadums with dips, we had vegetarian pakora as a starter, which were crispy and well spiced.As a main I tried a kind of Indian pancake with lamb curry - it was all very tasty, nicely spiced and made from fresh ingredients. We were given a small dessert on the house to finish off. The portions were a satisfactory size: value for money is good.Service was friendly and we enjoyed a nice chat to the owner at the end of the evening. A thoroughly pleasant evening.
