Wawa's Asian Kitchen

Their idea was to make the first south-east Asian foodspot in Lausanne but they failed miserably.Paying almost 20 bucks to get WAY TOO MUCH rice, flavorless steamed chicken and a huge flood of sauce will make you feel ripped off, trust me.Concept is GOOD but the execution isn't. Instead if you like real asian food (with an ASIAN taste) try "Chez Xu" (2 locations in Lausanne), wayyy better.

I was so excited for a quick Asian place but was disappointed with the food. It all tasted so sour (both my friend and my dish). I would maybe go back with a discount coupon but not otherwise. There are better Asian places in town to check out for reasonable prices.

Attention: si vous allez acheter votre repas pour le consommer au bureau ça peut vite se transformer en catastrophe. Il faut absolument vérifier que les emballages en bambou et en plastique soient fermés correctement! Ce n'était pas mon cas. J'ai acheté mon repas pour l'emporter. Après 10 minutes de marche le sac en papier (très fin) qui contenait mon repas s'est déchiré car mouillé par la nourriture qui s'était échappée des récipients mal fermés. La salade de fruit s'est répandue sur mes chaussures. Le bol en carton de bambou avec le plat principal est tombé par terre et le couvercle en plastique s'est détaché. La bouteille de Fritz Cola, suite au choc sur le bitume, s'est décapsulée toute seule et s'est vidée. J'ai ramassé comme j'ai pu et j'ai tout mis à la poubelle. Dommage, ça avait l'air appétissant. La prochaine fois je mangerai sur place ou je contrôlerai moi-même que tout soit bien fermé et je mettrai le repas dans un sac en plastique.

I stopped in here for lunch a few weeks ago. This place is brand new and offers a design-your-own Asian bowl concept. Service was quick and friendly. There are quite a few options with which you can design your meal, though it tends to follow Thai/Southeast Asian cuisine.My meal was very fresh, with interesting flavors and spices (Rice noodles with beef satay in a spicy sauce with pickeled vegetables, cilantro, and sauteed shallots). The drinks offered are fizzy, natural sodas. The menu comes with a small dessert of fruit or custard. The restaurant itself is quite small, with about six tables available. Many people do take-away for this reason. I came with a stroller, thus it was quite tight to park it. Note that there is a ramp around the side of the building, so it is possible to enter from the back of the restaurant. The ramp is not obvious from the front stairs. Overall, Wawa's offers a tasty, healthy lunch option. Standard food prices (menu for 20 CHF), though probably not sophisticated/authentic enough for a night out.

Wawa's approach over the asian kitchen is different. They prepare one type of pork, beef and chicken and they let you build your own dish by choosing the vegetables, the sauce and the spices. Some people call this fast-food, as it is rather efficient. The ingredients have a good taste and texture but mixing them too much can cause a strange result. There's also sugar in most of them which gives a rather confusing aftertaste. They are probably experimenting their recipes and with some fine adjusting, and perhaps less sugar, it could get just right. It's an interesting concept though, with room for evolvement.

We were looking for a quick Asian type meal for dinner while staying in Lausanne. We picked Wawa’s Asian Kitchen based on reviews. It did not disappoint. The Bo Bun was very tasty and fulfilling. The Crispy Chicken with Rice and Sweet and Sour Sauce...was perfect for those that don’t like spicy food. The service was nice and welcoming and they went out of their way to make our meal enjoyable.
