I found this restaurant using a quick Google search when we couldn't find what we wanted at the Nashmarkt. Always a gamble. And this time, it paid off. This is a delightful place. It feels like you're eating at the home of friends. The friends you wish you had. Friends who cook simple, delicious Italian food in an unpretentious way. Our waiter was so very nice. And very efficient. My sister had pizza. She said it was the best pizza she'd ever had. I got the Bolognese and it was perfect. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was tangy and meaty and fresh tasting. My mom ordered sea bass, and it was hilarious. She's a very picky eater, and she freaked out when the plate came out with a whole fish, eyeballs staring up at her. Maybe she was hungry or wanted to prove us wrong when we started giggling at her, but she took a bite. And didn't say another word until she finished. She said it was one of the best things she'd ever eaten. Here's what was great. This food. It was simple. It was delicious. It was unpretentious. The owner came out to welcome us and sent us off with grappa. He chatted with us about the election and what brought us to Vienna. It was a perfect end to a warm, comforting meal in a warm, comforting place. I wish I could go back there right now.
